Top 10 Reasons I Love Stonebridge UMC

“I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now. I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.”  (Philippians 1: 3-6)

During the tenure of David Letterman as host of the Tonight Show, he would often present a “Top 10 List”. These lists were often topical in nature, making light of some national event or seasonal occasion.

Yesterday I was speaking with a friend and colleague about serving as pastor of Stonebridge UMC. I was telling him how much I love being the pastor here.

So, with that in mind here are my “Top 10 Reasons I love Stonebridge UMC”…

10. Stonebridge is like family.

9. Stonebridge cares about people.

8. This church loves to eat – My favorite thing to do!

7. Hospitality! Hospitality! Hospitality!

6. Christmas Eve – Wow!

5. The Music Ministries – Double Wow!

4. Stonebridge loves to have fun – You can hear the laughter and see the fun.

3. People like each other – Just listen to the buzz on Sunday before and after the worship service.

2. The small group that prays with me each Monday.

And the #1 reason is… God is working a miracle in our church – making all things new!

Sometimes it is important to remember why you love something or someone.  This is a great church, with a great membership and great leadership.  What are your Top 10?

See you Sunday! Tell your friends about the great things happening at SUMC. Invite someone to worship.

Pastor John Allen

This Sunday we continue our journey through the Beatitudes of Jesus from Matthew 5:1-12. We will cover, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” The emphasis is on being a maker of peace. We see the qualifications in the way Jesus lived. The message of peace is the message of the gospel. The word peace, shalom in the Hebrew, is a word which has to do with the well-being of another, seeking for the highest good. Such persons are known in society as “the children of God.”
